Newcastle Netball Association Life Member Adele Saunders OAM has today been named the 18th Freeman of the City, the City’s top accolade.
This honour is bestowed on Dell today in recognition of her lifelong dedication to volunteering in the community, sporting community and specifically her service to Newcastle Netball Association.
Dell’s service to Newcastle Netball Association commenced in 1955 serving as Secretary, Jnr Vice President, Snr Vice President and Publicity Officer before becoming President in 1978 until 2019.
Dell received the Medal of the Order of Australia in 1999 and held the position of Hunter Academy of Sport Netball Umpire coordinator from 2009-2015. Dell was Chair of the City of Newcastle Festival 1985-2010 and has served on the Newcastle City Sports advisory committee, the Festival of Sport Committee and the Mattara Festival committee to name a few.
Dell continues to be actively involved with Newcastle Netball Association on the umpires committee and is a most valued member of NNA.
