We are extremely excited and proud to celebrate Newcastle’s Alex Brown for her incredible achievement on the Australian Netball umpiring pathway.

Alex Brown debuted as Reserve Umpire for the Suncorp Super Netball Giants v Swifts match last night after being selected to the Suncorp Super Netball Talent Identified Squad for 2026.  Alex, who had already shadowed the Reserve umpire in 2 previous 2026 SSN matches in Sydney, and notched up 50 Premier League games last week, will gain experience through further SSN Reserves and SSN reserving opportunities throughout 2026.

Alex has followed the New South Wales pathway, progressing from various development programs to national level, while balancing professional and personal commitments. This selection offers invaluable exposure to elite competition and will support ongoing growth as part of Australia’s next generation of top umpires.

“Officiating at Suncorp Super Netball level is the result of years of hard work, continuous learning, and a genuine passion for the game." - Helen George, NNSW Performance Umpire Coach.

Alex's journey is proof that with dedication, skill, and passion, coming from a regional area is no barrier to reaching the top.
